
New Xerox WorkCentre 7700 Color MFP Series Starts At $24,100
March 1, 2010 - Xerox has introduced its WorkCentre 7700 color MFP series for mid- to large workgroups with print speeds ranging from 40-50 ppm (color) and 55-75 ppm (black). These laser-based systems support media sizes up to 13"x19", the company's Extensible Interface Platform open-development platform (EIP) for creating custom applications accessible at the touch screen, and document finishing. For graphic arts and more demanding printing, Xerox is also making an optional Electronics for Imaging (EFI) Fiery print server available. The systems feature a new vertically oriented touch screen/control panel. Network print and copy are standard; scan, scan to-e-mail, fax and LAN fax are optional.

The WorkCentre 7700 Series consists of three models, all of which have a resolution of 2,400 x 2,400 dpi:
- The WorkCentre 7755 is rated at 55/40ppm, and lists at $24,100. Recommended volume is up to 200,000 pages.
- The WorkCentre 7765 is rated at 65/50 ppm and lists at $29,100. Recommended volume is up to 250,000 pages.
- The WorkCentre 7775 is rated at 75/50 ppm and lists at $34,100. Recommended volume is up to 300,000 pages.
Common specifications for all are as follows:
- 1.33 GHz Freescale CPU; 2 GB standard memory; and 1000BaseT Gigabit Ethernet network interface (wireless connectivity is optional). PCL and Adobe PostScript 3 print drivers are standard. The systems support Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, Citrix, Novell NetWare, HPUX, AIX and Linux. Xerox includes CentreWare Web for managing and monitoring the system on the network.
- Standard paper capacity is 3,260 sheets, expandable to 5,260 sheets. A 250-sheet duplexing automatic document feeder is standard. Various document-finishing options for hole punching, multi-position stapling, saddle-stitching, interposing, and folding are available. As noted, maximum paper size is 13"x19"; acceptable media weights are from 17 lb/ bond to 170 lb. index (64 to 300 gsm).
- As noted, scan is optional; available scan options are scan to file, mailbox, application, home and to e-mail. Xerox's SMARTSend software for scan-capture and distribution is also optional, as is scan to searchable Adobe PDF format .
- Security includes network authentication, IPv6, ID card system, standard Xerox accounting software, hard-drive overwrite, hard-drive encryption, encrypted e-mail and fax transmission, Internal Auditron, etc.
