News A3 SMB MFPs, Document Library Software From Toshiba
February 15, 2010 - Seeking to expand its presence in the small- and mid-size (SMB) segment, Toshiba America Business Solutions is launching the e-STUDIO181/182/242 series, a new monochrome A3 monochrome MFP family that lists from $2,195 to $3,995.
Standard capability includes local print and copy, with optional network print, scan and fax, and the systems are being distributed through authorized Toshiba dealers. Of note is a 77,000/90,000 preventative maintenance interval.
The e-STUDIO181 is rated at up to 18 ppm, and features Microsoft Windows GDI local printing, copy, and TWAIN scan; network print and scan is optional. Base list price is $2,195.
The e-STUDIO182 is also rated at up to 18 ppm, and is virtually the same as the e-STUDIO181, but optional fax is available. Base list price for the e-STUDIO182 is $2,695.
The e-STUDIO242 is the same as the e-STUDIO182, but rated print speed is faster at 24 ppm. Base list price is $3,395.
Both the e-STUDIO181 and 242 can be used with Toshiba's TopAccess system for monitoring and managing the systems on the network, and with the firm's e-BRIDGE fleet-management system.
Toshiba also released its new e-BRIDGE Document Library software. e-Bridge Document Library software is compatible with all Toshiba MFPs that incorporate the company's e-Bridge open-development platform, and provides a virtual digital-document filing cabinet. Users can scan a document at the Toshiba MFP, and it will automatically be stored as a searchable digital file. To retrieve the document at their computer workstation, the user simple opens Document Library's user interface in a Web browser, and searches for the document using any keyword in the document, or by its filing name.
Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE Document Library is the third in a series of Toshiba-developed connectors for Toshiba Open Platform-enabled MFPs. The company says it will continue to add new applications in the coming months. For Toshiba MFPs currently not supported by Toshiba-developed connectors, the firm provides eCopy as the connectivity add-on. The e-BRIDGE Open Platform Connectors for Document Library are available via local Toshiba authorized dealers.
