Staples Launches Printer-Fleet Management, IT Services

February 19, 2010 - Staples, Inc. the office-supplies superstore company, is seeking to enter the IT Services and printer fleet-management business with a new division, Staples Technology Solutions.  The firm says the new division will provide everything from data-center solutions and printer fleet-management services, to network services and desktop technology products, and will target customers ranging from SMB businesses up to Fortune 1000 corporations.

 

Staples says it'll work with the company's existing IT department, or even run an organization's entire IT operation. 

The new Staples Technology Solutions group's offerings will include: 

  • Printing solutions, including comprehensive printer fleet management.
  • Technology experts, including certified specialists that will help customers make best technology choices.
  • Managed services, including on-site and remote server and desktop support for Apple Macintosh, Microsoft, and Linux platforms, and engineers certified in industry-leading certifications, such as Cisco, Citrix, and Linux. 
  • Data-center assessments and solutions, ranging from services such as sub-floor cleaning, to a wide selection of data-center media equipment and supplies, including 24/7 data-center emergency supply service.
  • Easy access to products, including procurement solutions that fit a company's IT needs and improved ordering efficiencies through eCommerce, EDI, XML, and third-party options.

 

The firm also stresses that as a leading technology retailer, its strong vendor relationships will translate into enhanced buying power to help customers reduce costs.  The company counts among its top vendors Fujifilm, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Sun Microsystems.
