On October 24th, Ricoh USA launched next-generation copier/MFPs and printers, including its latest A3 black-and-white MFPs, the MP 6503/MP 7503/MP 9003 series, that print at up to 65, 75 and 90 ppm, and are EPEAT Gold-rated and Energy Star-certified for eco-friendliness.

The RICOH 6503/MP 7503/MP 9003 series features a 10.1″-wide Super VGA Smart Operation Panel that Ricoh says simplifies tasks, enabling users to create customized automated document workflows, and enables access to documents stored via the cloud. The MFPs can recognize common smartphone and tablet techniques, such as pinch-and-flick and drag-and-drop. The newly enhanced RICOH Smart Device Connector app also provides integration between mobile devices and Ricoh devices, including Ricoh interactive whiteboards and projectors.

There’s also a Single Pass Document Feeder (SPDF) that scans up to 120 single-sided and 220 double-sided images per minute, as well as 1,200 x 1,200 dpi resolution, and a standard 4,300 paper capacity that’s expandable up to 8,300 sheets.

At the touch screen, an Eco-Friendly widget enables users to check usage statistics. An integrated motion sensor detects an approaching user by sensing differences in temperature in the surrounding environment, enabling the device to recover from sleep mode in seconds.

The RICOH MP 6503/MP 7503/MP 9003 series also enables users to save up to 3,000 frequently used documents – such as forms that are previously may have been pre-printed and stored. The MFPs are also equipped with administrative controls, so that administrators can specify print-output limit outputs for specific users or workgroups, along with user-authentication controls to prevent unauthorized access and help ensure only intended recipients receive documents. Encryption protects data on the 320-GB hard drive and the DataOverwriteSecurity System (DOSS) destroys latent document images recorded on the hard drive.

Options include XPS Direct Print, OCR (optical character recognition) software, and USB Device Server feature, the last of which enables users to connect to two networks simultaneously.

RICOH MP C2004 and RICOH MP C2504 Color MFPs

Ricoh USA also announced two new A3 color MFPs, the RICOH MP C2004 and RICOH MP C2504, both equipped with Ricoh’s 10.1″-wide Super VGA Smart Operation Panel with tablet-like operation and streamlined shortcuts.

The RICOH MP C2004 and RICOH MP C2504 also feature Ricoh’s integrated motion sensor that detects approaching users and activates key operations for immediate use. Once triggered, the device can recover from sleep mode in approximately one second. They also feature as the RICOH Smart Device Connector app, which enables integration with mobile devices to facilitate sharing information between other Ricoh devices, such as interactive whiteboards and projectors. The MFPs may be equipped with a variety of optional security features, including Card Authentication Control, Data Encryption, and hard-drive data overwrite.

Designed for small workgroups, the RICOH MP C2004 and RICOH MP C2504 have rated print speeds of 20 ppm and 25 ppm, respectively. Banner printing is also standard, and Ricoh says that specially designed rollers and guides help reduce paper curl for improved stacking on larger jobs. A new sound-reducing design, which incorporates an anti-vibration system and noise-absorbing materials, makes for quieter operation.
