Epson America and 3M report that they’ve formed a partnership to launch a new series of co-branded inks called Epson-3M UltraChrome GS3 Inks, which are designed for use in Epson’s SureColor S-Series roll-to-roll solvent-ink printers, including the Epson SC-S40600, SC-S60600, and SC-S80600. Epson says the inks provide sign-makers and print service providers (PSPs) a 3M MCS Warranty for finished graphics created using supported 3M films, clears, overlaminates, and application tapes, once they have completed the certification process.
“We are committed to providing print-service providers within the signage and graphics industries with complete printing solutions that are supported by industry-leading reliability and support,” commented Jeffrey Smith, product manager for Epson America’s Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. “With the new co-branded ink solution, Epson users have the option to purchase the full scope of components covered by the 3M MCS Warranty, guaranteeing all aspects of the finished graphic, including ink fade, image browning, and other potential failure modes.”
According to the firm, the Epson-3M UltraChrome GS3 inks enable sign-makers and PSPs to provide customers with “quality printed graphics” guaranteed under the 3M MCS Warranty program. The 3M MCS Warranty covers fading, cracking, peeling, and other aspects of outdoor graphics for customers using the Epson SC-S40600, SC-S60600 and SC-S80600 printers.
3M has offered the 3M Performance Guarantee with Epson inks featured in legacy wide-format Epson printers, coupled with complimentary rolls of 3M materials, including 54-inch x 10-yard rolls of 3M Controltac Graphic Film with Comply v3 Adhesive IJ180Cv3 and 3M Scotchcal Gloss Overlaminate 8518.
The Epson SureColor S-Series features Epson’s PrecisionCore TFP print head (in dual array on the SC-S60600 and SC-S80600) and enhanced media-feeding system are said to provide high-quality output.
The Epson-3M UltraChrome GS3 Inks used in the SC-S80600, SC-S60600 and SC-S40600 will be available through Epson’s authorized Epson Professional Imaging S-Series resellers in August.
