Brother’s Mobile Printer PocketJet 7 for On-the-Road Workers Supports Broad Range of Mobile Solutions

pocketjet 7Brother Mobile Solutions is introducing its new PocketJet 7 mobile printer, a full-page mobile thermal printer that features Brother’s “Freedom Architecture,” which Brother says ensures across-the-board software compatibility and inter-operability with smartphones, tablets, and PCs built on the iOS, Android, and Microsoft Windows and Windows Mobile operating systems, and are out-of-the-box ready to print, without the need for additional software development or print drivers.

Designed for mobile workers in fields such as transportation, field management, and public safety, new upgrades from the PocketJet 6 include support for Apple AirPrint mobile-printing wireless technology for the PocketJet PJ-773 model and for the Bluetooth PJ-763MFi model, enabling users to print from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch mobile devices. Various models – six configuration are available – also support Mopria and Windows 10 compatibility.

The PocketJet 7 prints on up 8.5″x14″ media, and, as it uses an 8.5″ thermal print head, there are no ink cartridges, ribbons, or toner cartridges to replace, just thermal paper. Print speed is rated up to 8 ppm, all models incorporate a USB 2.0 port, and power options consist of a Li-ion Battery (for printing up to 600 pages), AC adapter, and DC vehicle adapter. The PocketJet 7 weighs about 1.3 lbs., and measures 10″ long x 2.25″ wide x 1.25″ deep.

Smart Roll Case, Customized Kits for Specialized Applications

New for the PocketJet 7 series is a specially designed optional carry-and-mount case. The roll case employs IP54-rated construction for four-foot drop protection, with an anti-curl mechanism to produce flat documents with legible, fade-resistant printing from the roll of thermal paper stored within. The compact case and printer can be vehicle-mounted, or stored and carried within a briefcase, backpack, or work kit.

Also available from Brother are a new series of workforce kits in which the printer, accessories, and media are bundled together:

  • Vehicle Kit for vehicle and fleet operators for vehicle-mounted and vehicle-powered mobile printers.
  • Workforce Kit, designed for day-to-day use by the typical mobile professional or by field workforce.
  • Developer’s Kit for application or software developers requiring more than the basic essentials as they refine their designs.
  • Basic Kit, which is the essential starter package for the mobile professional who prints from a laptop or PC.

Custom kits may also be developed upon special customer request.
