New Epson PM-400 Personal Photo Lab Printer

picture mate pm-400Digital-camera and photo-printing enthusiasts looking for a dedicated photo printer may wish to consider a new photo printer from Epson America, the PictureMate PM-400 Personal Photo Lab ($249.99 MSRP) printer, which Epson says delivers high quality, long-lasting photos in a compact, lightweight solution with wireless connectivity. The PM-400 prints border-less 4″ x 6″ and 5″ x 7″ photos that Espon says are smudge-, scratch-, water-, and fade-resistant, and last up to 200 years. The PictureMate PM-400 also features built-in Wi-Fi CERTIFIED n3, Wi-Fi Direct as well as printing from iPads, iPhones, and Android tablets and smartphones.

The photo printer also features a 2.7-inch LCD screen and button-formatting for set-up and navigation without using a PC. Epson says it prints 4”x6” photos as fast as 36 seconds6. The PictureMate PM-400 also provides various photo-editing and custom-printing options, including Auto Photo Correction, removing red-eye, printing in classic border or border-less format, as well as the ability to print in black-and-white, color, or sepia.

The PM-400 Personal Photo Lab uses Epson’s MicroPiezo color inkjet-printing technology and has a maximum print resolution of 5,760 x 1,440 dpi. It prints on these photo sizes: 3.5″ x 5″, 4″ x 6″, 5″ x 7″, and on plain paper and glossy photo paper. It uses four dye-based inks, and a single ink cartridge containing all four colors that’s rated to yeild up to 320 pages and costs $32.99.

Other features include:

  • Built-in memory-card slot to preview, edit, and print photos.
  • Print from a tablet or smartphone with Epson Connect6, which supports Android, Apple iPad and iPhone, Chromebook, Fire OS, Apple Mac, and Microsoft Windows devices.
