December 9, 2014 – Hewlett-Packard reports that it’s formed an agreement with office-supplies store Staples, with Staples becoming the newest U.S. retailer to provide HP’s Instant Ink replacement service, the HP program that HP says can save customers up to 50 percent on the cost of ink. HP’s Instant Ink services will now be available at more than 850 U.S. Staples locations.

HP Instant Ink enables eligible HP printers to track ink levels via the cloud and automatically order HP ink cartridges before ink runs out, with ink cartridges automatically delivered to customers’ front doorstep.

Under the Instant Ink program, customers can enroll in one of three monthly plans allowing the printer to order original HP replacement ink cartridges before ink runs out. The plans are based on the number of pages printed, not cartridges used, and customers pay the same monthly fee whether they print black-and-white documents, color documents, or photos. The three plans are as follows:

  • For $2.99 per month, print up to 50 pages. Each additional 15 pages is $1.
  • For $4.99 per month print up to 100 pages. Each additional 20 pages is $1.
  • For $9.99 per month print up to 300 pages. Each additional 25 pages is $1.

Starting at $99.99, Staples now carries an expanding portfolio of HP Instant Ink-enabled printers. Available models include the Officejet Pro 6830, 8610, 8620, and 8630, Officejet 4630, 5740, and 8040, and ENVY 4500, 5530, 5660, and 7640.

Staples’ Rewards program also offers its customers online and in-store ink and toner-cartridge recycling, with $2 back for each cartridge, as well as up to five percent back in Staples Rewards for ink and toner purchases and free shipping on Staples.com.

I live in Canada and. When I want to subscribe you state that it is being ‘developed’ and is not available at this time and to keep checking back. Really, couldn’t you come up with a date?
I am interested in this program.

Thanks for visiting our Web site.

It appears that you have to take this issue up with HP as the program may not be available in Canada. As an alternative, you should research the availability of HP Ink Advantage models and the requisite ink.
