Canon Expands Office Scanner Line with New imageFORMULA DR-F120
December 4, 2014 – Canon U.S.A. is launching its latest office document scanner, the imageFORMULA DR-F120 ($399 MSRP), which is designed for corporate and home -offices. Featuring both an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) and a flatbed scanning platen, Canon says the scanner provides a variety of features that simplify the process of capturing, storing, and sharing information. With its ability to scan up to 20 pages or 36 images per minute – and up to 800 documents per day – it says the imageFORMULA DR-F120 scanner is ideal for companies in industries looking to streamline paper-based workflows, including education, healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and information-and-data processing services.
Users can create PDFs out of scanned documents, and scanned documents may be uploaded and shared through third-party, cloud-based services such as Evernote, Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, and Dropbox. CaptureOnTouch also enables users to pre-configure routine scan jobs for one-click operation.
Support for various media formats provides support for diverse applications – for instance, library archivists can scan fragile documents for long-term storage, educators can digitize texts and other bound materials, and manufacturers and contractors can preserve product and process documentation.
The imageFORMULA DR-F120, which can scan documents in black-and-white, grayscale, and color, can handle a broad range of document types. For batch scanning, the ADF can hold up to 50 pages at a time, including thick, thin, or long documents. The scanner automatically detects color, page size, as well as the orientation of text in mixed batches, and includes features to help minimize jams and double feeds. The flatbed provides an alternative for scanning books, magazines, plastic or embossed cards, and fragile documents, and can scan up to legal-size originals.
According to Canon, the imageFORMULA DR-F120 features a user-friendly control panel, and many routine jobs – including start and stop scanning, copying, filing, and emailing documents – can be performed just the touch of one button.
To help ensure that information is captured accurately, the scanner is equipped with technology that automatically enhances the quality of scanned images, including the ability to identify color documents from black-and-white documents, and adjust scanning resolution when scanning mixed batches of photographs and text documents. Other features improve text legibility, straighten skewed images, and remove shadows.
