This newsletter is coming to you early this week because of the Thanksgiving Holiday in the United States. Plus, it’s snowing fairly hard today in northern New Jersey, and many have the day off. (FYI, northern New Jersey is the North American headquarters for a disproportionate number of major imaging vendors, including Sharp, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Kyocera, Brother, and Samsung).

Speaking of vendors with headquarters in New Jersey, OKI (which has its North American headquarters in the south-western portion of the state) keeps on pushing the envelope to the point where it is nearly a weekly occurrence. This week we report on a recent OKI Webinar that took a deeper dive into the company’s new COREFIDO 5-Year Warranty, which should be attractive to many buyers – as most want their business equipment to last through the standard five-year depreciation period, whether they have a three-year lease or not – and without paying for expensive warranties or repairs.

High-profile Nuance Communications posted a loss for their most recent quarter. This is not surprising, as the company is continually acquiring new companies and technology, and folding them into their portfolio. Be patient with them, as the need for custom and secure workflows is continually growing, and will spike at some point as standards for paperless workflows in vertical markets emerge, and the field of providers narrows down. That said, Nuance is in a good position as any to “capture” that market – as is, it should be noted, Lexmark.

Last, good for Xerox for taking the SupplierPay Pledge and committing to paying suppliers faster. The SupplierPay Pledge has been championed by President Obama, and implemented by the U.S. federal government in order to help suppliers, especially small ones, get paid faster. With quicker access to that capital, suppliers can then in turn use it faster to invest in new equipment and new hires – which, bit-by-bit, will help build a better economy.
