OKI Data Multifunctionals Now Offer Business Solutions from More than 30 Partners
OKI Data of Tokyo reports that it’s established alliances with more than 30 independent software vendors (ISVs) around the world, with a special focus on solutions for its A4 LED-based MFPs equipped with OKI’s smart Extendable Platform open-platform technology. OKI Data says these alliances strengthen its ability to deliver solutions in the office-solutions market. The firm is seeking to double sales of MFP devices from fiscal 2013 to fiscal 2015, as it continues to expand its worldwide network of alliances.
In its Printer Business Strategy announced in March 2013, OKI Data stated that it sees the office-solutions market as a major growth area. With the MFP market positioned as a key growth segment, OKI last year introduced the MC700 series of A4-size color LED-based MFPs and the MB700 series of A4 monochrome LED-based MFPs (LED-based printing technology is a toner-based printing technology that uses an array of light-emitting diodes to fuse toner to paper). Leveraging its smart Extendable Platform featured in these MFPs, OKI says it’s moved ahead to establish business alliances with software vendors in “country-after-country,” with the goal of meeting various user needs, including demand for improved business productivity and lower costs.
Overall, it also says these efforts have “dramatically strengthened” its capacity to deliver solutions in areas such as print management, document management, and document capture. Offering various solutions enhances the value of MFPs, and broadens the range of use of MFPs, leading to higher sales.
- Of its various partners in the area of print management, OKI has formed alliances with Australian software developer PaperCut Software International for the Japanese and international markets, and Portuguese systems developer Alidata-Soluções Informáticas, and British systems developer Ringdale UK for international markets. OKI says these solutions have helped customers cut printing costs by helping to organize their printing environments and by streamlining print volumes and procedures.
- In the area of document management, OKI has partnered with DocuWare, a German software developer, to deliver document-management solutions for overseas markets. Solutions tied to MFPs equipped with OKI’s smart Extendable Platform allow customers to digitize paper documents for automatic document archiving.
- For document capture, OKI has formed alliances with leading companies in document recognition, including Drivve of Germany and ABBYY of Russia.

The firm says its future plans call for strengthening efforts to expand alliances and deepen relationships with ISVs, thereby delivering an expanded range of solutions for banking, logistics services, and other specific markets and industries in which each ISV specializes.
