Toshiba America Business Solutions is today rolling its new e-STUDIO 557/657/757/857 A3 monochrome MFPs, which start at $21,395 MSRP, and are available through Toshiba dealers. Designed for mid-size to large workgroups and enterprises, maximum monthly volume is up to 600,000 pages.

With a maximum resolution of 2,400 x 600 dpi, this latest version of Toshiba’s e-STUDIO MFP line prints at up to 85 ppm. Features of note include a 7,600-sheet maximum paper capacity, and security, mobile print and scan, and various environmental certifications. The MFPs also incorporate Toshiba’s e-BRIDGE platform for wireless mobile print and scan from Apple and Android smartphones and tablets, and for adding optional workflow and security, including PaperCut print-management and DocuWare document-capture, routing and management.

For security, there’s a 320-GB Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) that meets U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2. By attaining this validation, Toshiba says the MFPs may be used in environments where security is critical, such as financial institutions and government. There’s also a Hard Copy Security feature to prevent the copying of documents, an IPsec option for encrypting data sent to and from the MFP, and an optional Card Reader for user authentication.

In the eco-friendly department, the MFPs are EPEAT-registered; EPEAT is a global rating system for promoting greener electronics. The products also meet the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) compliance, and are Energy Star Tier 2-rated.

The MFPs also feature recycled plastics throughout their chassis, and use low-temperature toner, so toner can be fused to paper at lower temperatures, reducing energy costs. A Super Sleep Mode feature reduces power consumption to as little as 1.5 watts.

Toshiba also provides free toner-cartridge recycling through its “Zero Waste to Landfill” program. As a result of its partnership with Close the Loop, Toshiba accepts all brands of depleted toner cartridges. To further support its Zero Waste to Landfill initiative, Toshiba partners with internationally recognized Sims Recycling Solutions, allowing for the proper recycling of its e-STUDIO MFPs once they are no longer operational.

Consumables include a black toner cartridge, image drum, and developer. The black toner cartridge yields up to 73,900 pages, the drum yields up to 540,000 pages, and the developer yields up to 540,000 pages. Toner can be changed “on the fly.”

Document-finishing options include a 50-Sheet Finisher, 50-Sheet  Finisher with Saddle-Stitch or a 100-Sheet Finisher with Saddle-Stitch, 2/3-Hole Punch, and Post Inserter.

Each of the MFPs features network printing, copy, color scan, and Super Group 3 fax. There’s a 10/100/1000BaseTX Ethernet network interface, Wireless LAN connectivity, and a USB port. Color scanning is rated at up to 77 ipm (letter-size at 300 dpi). Rated print speed and MSRP is as follows:
