Lantronix is introducing its new xPrintServer Home Edition print server ($99.95) designed for consumer and home use. The xPrintServer Home print server enables easy wireless printing from Apple iOS iPhone, iPad and other iOS devices using iOS’s native print menu, without using apps or connecting to your PC or Mac. Lantronix says it supports over 4,000 USB and network printers (see lists of supported printers here).
Essentially, the xPrintServer Home Edition turns your USB printer into a network printer on your existing wireless network, allowing other PCs and Macs on the network to also print to it. Users must plug in the USB printer’s USB cable into the xPrintServer’s USB port, and then connect the xPrintServer to your wireless router/switch (a CAT5 Ethernet cable is included).
The xPrintServer Home Edition begins shipping in July, and is available for pre-ordering now at the Lantronix store.
