Brother to Launch Cloud-Based Scan Solution, Web Conferencing

Brother Industries of Japan will shortly be launching “Brother Online,” which consists of  a new automated solution for scanning to cloud-based scan repositories, as well as  Web-conferencing and document-sharing services, called “OmniJoin.”

The Web portal for the services – “Brother Online” – will automate scanning of documents to cloud-based sites in just two steps.

Currently, as the graphic below illustrates, scanning to cloud-based sites takes multiple steps:

While details are still sketchy, it appears that with the new Brother solution, scan-and-send to the cloud will take just two steps – 1) scanning to the PC with a Brother All-in-One’s scan capability; and 2) once the file is received at the PC into the Brother solution software, the user then just uploads it to the cloud site:

Brother will make the new services available in June in the United States, and in July in selected European countries.

The firm says its OmniJoin Web-conferencing solution will provide secure, high-image-quality online Web conferencing with easy document sharing among participants, and video storage for video-recordings and play-backs of meetings.
