Xerox Says New Entry-Level MFP Features Up-In-Class Features
Xerox is introducing a new monochrome office MFP, the WorkCentre 5230, which it says that, despite its entry-level price ($7,999), offers more advanced features–such as Xerox’s Extensible Interface Platform (EIP)–typically only provided by more expensive, higher-volume systems.
Designed for SMB, the WorkCentre 5230 can copy, fax, and network print and scan. Xerox rates it at up to 30 ppm, which, along with its maximum 5,100-sheet paper capacity, make it appropriate for small to mid-volume office print volumes. The system’s controller is based on a 333 MHz PowerPC, and includes 512 MB of memory, PCL 5e and 6 print drivers (optional Adobe PostScript 3), standard 40-GB hard drive, and 10/100Base-TX Ethernet network interface. Xerox includes its CentreWare Internet Services for network and fleet management. Maximum page volume is up to 75,000 pages, while recommended monthly volume is up to 12,000 pages.
